What's a featured ad?
Featured ads run 60 days and are $20. All the features of the "photo ad". In addition, they are also featured in rotation in the header throughout most of the site.

What's a SpotLight ad?
Spotlight ads run 13 weeks and are $25. All the features of the "featured ad". In addition, they run 31 extra days and are shown in rotation in the "Spotlight" position of the BuyandSellDogs.com home page (top of right column).

We STRONGLY discourage individuals from participation in whole litter sales, sales to puppy mills, auction sales, and sales to pet stores. Our goal is to connect individual buyers and sellers through the internet much like a newspaper, only on-line where we can provide more ad information at a much lower cost (i.e. Photos, pedigrees, etc.) We do not accept ads for dogs and puppies from brokers, auctions or those intended for use in illegal activities. If identified, any user attempting to sell under the previously mentioned premises will be permanently banned from our site. We recommend evaluation of each potential buyer on an individual basis. African Scam Ring

A very serious matter has come to our attention and we feel it is our duty to inform our users regarding any type of large-scale fraudulent activity that may be taking place related to this industry. We strongly believe in educating everyone to create an environment that is beneficial to both the buyer and the seller.

People selling online are receiving buyer inquiries from a third party regarding the purchase of a dog/puppy from a potential buyer in Nigeria, Africa or other foreign countries. This inquiry commonly attempts to arrange the purchase with a cashiers check covering the price of the dog/puppy and shipping. Normally the cashier's check exceeds the agreed price and they commonly ask you to refund the difference.

Unfortunately, the cashier's check that is sent is counterfeit. This fact is not uncovered until the seller forwards the difference to the scam artists.

To protect yourselves and others against this type of activity, it is important to try and obtain as much information about the buyer as possible. If you suspect the buyer may be involved in this or similar scams, please forward any information you can obtain to the following organizations:

To help you in recognizing these types of scams, we have provided below a list of indicators. They are only guidelines, and as always, should be tempered with common sense.

Big Promises: Claims such as offering more money than the asking price without an initial conversation regarding the dog are almost always a sure sign of a scam. Be careful of any individual who wants to send you more money than you are asking for and of those that want rock bottom prices on multiple dogs.

High Pressure Tactics: Be wary of individuals asking you to speed up the transaction beyond your comfort range. Again, a legitimate deal probably isn't going to move as fast as your money. Don't let yourself be pressured -- think things through.

Requests for financial information: Don't give out any bank information without establishing a comfort level with the buyer or seller.

Always get something in writing: You should never complete a transaction without first writing down the terms of the deal and have each party sign it. If you can't afford a lawyer to draft up a contract, you still should write down the terms of the deal in plain English and get it signed. Any buyer or seller that is hesitant or resists is usually a sure sign of a potential problem.

Site visitors can sign up for the Classifieds Watch List to receive daily emails of new listings. It's a free service, easy to sign up, and easy to discontinue. All that is required is a valid email address and the breed of interest. The watch list is strictly for our classifieds only and no emails other than the actual watch list are sent to the watch list participants.

We Monitor Emails Sent To Our Users
Seller email addresses are NOT displayed on any of the ads. Site visitors fill out a simple form. We automatically check the information they provide for known scammer email addresses and most are deleted before they ever reach their intended recipient. We have our own scammer email database that is updated daily to help protect our users.
